The European Rubik's Games Championships 2004 will be an official competition, acknowledged by the WCA (World Cube Association).

August 8, 2004Lars Vandenbergh is the first European Rubik's Cube champion. In the final he set a fantastic 16.19 seconds average and a best time of 14.95 seconds. Second was Michel Bechtatou, with Ron van Bruchem finishing third.
August 8, 2004Olivier Gaucher is the first European Rubik's 4x4x4 Cube champion. Ron van Bruchem was second, with Lars Vandenbergh finishing third. Lars Vandenbergh set a new world record of 1 minute 9.11 seconds.
August 8, 2004Lars Vandenbergh is the first European Rubik's 5x5x5 Cube champion. Olivier Gaucher was second, with Frédérick Badie finishing third.
August 8, 2004Stefan Pochmann is the first person to have solved a Rubik's 5x5x5 Cube blindfolded in an official competition.
August 8, 2004Dror Vomberg is the first European champion for blindfolded solving of Rubik's 3x3x3 Cube and of Rubik's 4x4x4 Cube. Dror also set a new world record for 4x4x4 blindfolded of 19 minutes 54 seconds.
August 8, 2004Zbigniew Zborowski is the first European champion for solving Rubik's 3x3x3 Cube with as few moves as possible. In the final he solved a cube in 31 moves.
August 8, 2004Jaap Scherphuis is the first European champion for Rubik's Magic. Stefan Pochmann set a new world record of 1.43 seconds.

August 8, 2004Jaroslaw Nowicki is the first European champion for one-handed solving of Rubik's 3x3x3 Cube. He also set a new European record of 45.65 seconds.
August 8, 2004Kare Krig surprisingly beat our other Swedish friend Anders Larsson in the final of the feet solving competition. It was great to see the Swedes doing their Swedish thing.
August 7, 2004The first day of the European Rubik's Games Championships 2004 was a big success. Several world and national records were broken. Full results of day 1 are now available. On sunday we will have the finals and the blindfold competitions.

August 6, 2004More than half of the competitors registered at the registration evening in the IBIS hotel. The others can register on saturday morning. The informal get-together was like a big reunion of people who knew each other often only from internet. Check out the media and pictures sections for more information.

Tonight you can register at the IBIS hotel where you will receive a championship bag. You can also test the timers and meet the other competitors during the informal get-together.
August 5, 2004The regulations for the championships are now available and stable. Thanks to those of you who did a thorough review!
August 4, 2004Afterparty will be held in the foyer of the IBIS hotel (see the time schedule).

August 3, 2004Full regulations are now available.
August 3, 2004Major update to the time schedule. This version of the schedule is provisional but will be our target for the championship.
August 2, 2004Added the media section where we will post pictures, newspaper articles and other media.
July 26, 2004Competitors from 15 different countries have now registered (the Austrian competitor unfortunately can't make it). Average age is 27 years and 10 months.
July 25, 2004The US National Championships 2004 were a big success with 47 competitors and some fantastic records set.
It is now up to Europe to show them what we can in quantity and in quality!

July 10, 2004Minor updates in rules and maximum number of competitors.
3x3x3 blindfold: maximum number of competitors: 18 (was 30)
4x4x4 blindfold: maximum time 75 minutes (was 60), maximum number of competitors: 6 (was 8)
5x5x5 blindfold: maximum number of competitors: 6 (was 4)
July 7, 2004Only 1 month before the championship! Today we sent a mail to all registered competitors. If you haven't received this e-mail and a confirmation of your registration, then please contact us by e-mail.
June 28, 2004Competitors from 16 different countries have now registered.
Countries with 5 or more competitors: The Netherlands, Germany, France, Poland, Sweden, United Kingdom.
Countries with up to 5 competitors: Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Czech Republic, Norway, Israel, Austria, Romania, Italy, Hungary.
Don't register too late, there is a maximum number of competitors per event!
The average age of the competitors is now: 27 years and 4 months.

May 11, 2004We updated the time schedule, because the time limit for 5x5x5 blindfolded is now 2 hours 30 minutes, with a maximum of 4 competitors competing.
May 10, 2004We updated the number of competitors that proceed to the next round or final. Most stage finals will have 4 competitors. The 3x3x3 final will have 8 competitors (2 groups of 4).
May 9, 2004The Amsterdam tourist office has a list of hotels, including guesthouses and bed & breakfast.
April 30, 2004Competitors from 12 different countries have now registered.
April 26, 2004We changed the format of the Rubik's 3x3x3 cube event for semi final and final. Semi final is now 'average of 5' (was 'best of 3'), final is now 'average of 5' (was 'average of 7'). This is to conform to other competitions.

April 24, 2004The event Rubik's 3x3x3 cube with feet will now only have a final. Only 4 competitors will be accepted for that event.
