Rubik's Cube
Competition

I am a senior in high school at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM) and early on in my junior year I started a club at school for teaching people how to solve the rubik's cube. In the middle of the year the club did not meet very much due to packed schedules for all the members and myself included. At the very end of the year I held a competition for speed solving the rubik's cube for anyone who wanted to attend. I held the competition on the weekend of final exams so there was not a very large turnout due to a lot of people studying for exams the next day. However, these competitions are a tradition that I want to keep up well into next year. On this page I will post all of the competition results in a format similar to the Unofficial World Records Page. Here you can find out who the fastest people are at my school for last school year and soon to come this coming school year. I also invite you to follow the NCSSM link above and find out more about this school. It is not a typical high school at all. NCSSM is a residential public high school (there is no tuition to attend) which selects applicants from various high schools from around the state of North Carolina. Appromixately 250 juniors and 250 seniors attend this school (there are no freshmen or sophmore classes) which focuses on accelerated studies in science and mathematics as well as in humanities. There are also a wide variety of electives in the art and music department as well. It is an excellent school, one that I'm glad to attend.
I plan on doing a lot more with this page this coming school year after I have hosted a few more competitions. So here it is, the first official NCSSM Rubik's Cube competition results.

The rules of the competition were that each person was given three chances to solve the cube and the fastest time of the three counted as that person's time. Once everyone had a fastest time these times were compared to see who was the fastest. I recently added Aaron Silverman to this list 6-10-01 because it came to my attention that he did record a time at the contest, however at the time I was unaware of it. In order to be fair I have added his name to the main event.
